It's the first thought to cross her mind when she sees what he's written, an angry and selfish concern. Cami banishes it quickly; her own problems don't exactly feature a paranoid, unspeakably powerful hybrid who wouldn't send the message without reason.]
Not recently, no.
[And then, because she knows Klaus, because she knows he would be looking:]
Were her things still in her room when you looked?
[ he has wanted to. countless times he has wanted to see her, to speak to her, to be with her over the course of the month. if his visits and attentions have laxed, it is only because she wished it; she's been clear that he cannot help her and she, him.
nonetheless the question moves him, quite literally. through all his panic and worry, he did not think such a thing could be significant; perhaps she is gone, for good.
freya's door opens and then closes with a loud slam as klaus enters again to check. the scent of freya still lingers, encased in the rooms; the smell of her herbs fill the space. he stops to rifle through papers: her spells. ]
It's all here.
[ he doesn't stop there. he turns out her bedside table, her closet, her desk in desperate search for any further clue of her whereabouts. ]
[She knows the thought wasn't fair; nothing has been, lately.
Thus it's easier, so much easier to focus on the matter at hand. Cami hears the door open and closed--she's in her own room, just next door--and considers for a moment joining him.
Maybe. He won't take what she has to say well.]
She might not be in Wonderland. People vanish without warning, but her things being here means she'll be sent back.
[ she's entitled to be unfair. she's entitled to be as unfair as she needs. he holds no bitterness towards her hostility or her reservation, no matter how it might wound him.
nor does he fault her for not leaving the confines of her space to meet him here. it says enough to him: she needs the space. she deserves it. she is better off for it.
klaus speeds to his phone when it chimes. it takes him a moment to process the words, despite knowing the possibility. either freya is gone, or she has befallen some awful fate. his muscles tense; he closes his eyes tight and weathers the volatile mix of emotions and helplessness boiling inside of him.
he needs to focus. for freya. for rebekah. and he's grateful, for the help cami is giving, despite it all. ]
[She hasn't put down the phone since sending her last message, and no time is lost once she gets his reply. Cami can feel the pull of his need, her own desire to be there for someone she cares about--but before it manages to make her move, she hears the harsh sound of Freya's door closing once again.
She could call him back. Cami swallows, looking down at her phone.
Instead, she takes another route; she's got connections Klaus simply doesn't in this world. She can't walk with him, but Cami also can't stand by doing nothing when she could act on her own.]
